I sure didn't see that coming !!!
Fourth round pick, Beau Bell, from UNLV, is supposed to be something to shout about, but the Runnin' Rebels play in the Mountain West conference, which is more or less the equivalent of two hand touch football compared to the SEC, Big Ten or Big Twelve. We'll have to wait and see how he looks when faced with some real offensive talent.
another Fourth round pick, TE from Mizzou, Martin Rucker, has been compared favorably in terms of his collegiate performance to a former Tiger named Kellen Winslow. I guess I don't need to know much more than that to see why Savage took him. But it doesn't bode very well for KWjr returning this fall from his knee surgery.
Round Six pick, Wisconsin WR Paul Hubbard has more accolades as a Badger track star than as a football star. But with Joe Jurevicius hanging up his cleats after the 08 season, Hubbard could eventually develop into a dangerous number three option in the Browns receiving corps.
another Round Six pick, Ahtyba Rubin, a NT from Iowa State, is most likely Savage looking for someone to spell Shaun Rogers in the short term, and maybe replace him on down the road a few years from now.
Seventh round pick Alex Hall, DE from St Augustine, will be a project for the Browns defense. Most likely at OLB.
Well...... now you know about as much as I do about the players the Browns selected today !!
...and it would seem that we'll be inviting a laundry list of UDFAs at CB to Training Camp in a few months !!
Phil certainly has me (and I am sure that I am not alone) scratching my head, but I am not foolish enough to doubt that he has the situation well in hand.....
.....somehow !!
We'll find out just exactly how, soon enough !!
